Larnaca is small town, marked by a kilometre long seafront promenade, a meeting place for the young and old. Larnaca links with Christianity go back to the very beginning, for the town’s first bishop was none other than St. Lazarus, who chose to spend his “second life” there after Jesus had raised him from the dead.
We begin our excursion with a visit of the famous Church of St. Lazarus from the 10th century, which was built over the grave of Saint Lazarus.
A stroll along the picturesque Palm Tree Beach Promenade should not be missed. The next stop is by the Salt Lake of Larnaca where we visit the Hala Sultan Tekke, built to the memory of Prophet Muhammad’s aunt. The mosque is an important pilgrimage destination for Muslims.
Continue to the small village of Vavatsina where you can enjoy a break, after free time we proceed for a short break in Lefkara Village, where the women produce the world famous embroidery Lefkarikita in the shadow of their balconies.
We end our excursion with a visit to a local winery in the area and you can have a taste of the local wine (wine tasting extra charge).
