The excursion to Paphos which was appointed the Cultural Capital of Europe for 2017, will take you back in time to the ancient Greek and Roman civilizations and Greek mythology.
Our first stop will be at the ancient city Kingdom of Kourion where we visit the house of Eustolios with its mosaics from the 5th Century AD, and the theatre from the 2nd century.
The Kourion site is not only famous for its excavations but also for its spectacular location on a high cliff overlooking the sea, offering spectacular views over the bay.
What would Paphos be without its landmark “Aphrodite’s Rock”. Aphrodite, goddess of beauty and love According to the mythology, the goddess emerged out of the waves at the place where today the rocks called “Petra Tou Romiou“ (Rock of the Greek) is standing. We enjoy a short photo-stop here before we continue to Paphos, where we visit The House of Dionysus, which is well known by archaeologists for its unique mosaics.
Before returning there will be enough free time to enjoy a stroll at the picturesque little harbour, busy with colourful fishing boats and taverns.
